The complexity of this painting of Meenew by Carol Lavoie truly draws me in. There's something solemn in Meenew's eyes, and something challenging, and to my mind, something that would be just begging for love, if she weren't too self-respectful to beg. It's really a lovely painting, I think.
And it's one of 10 that Carol made to donate to Protectors of Animals in East Hartford.
I am glad to see that people are reading and responding to the article in Art Calendar - but I still don't have my copy! Might have to break down and buy one. Soon as I do, mine will arrive in the mail!
