Cocoa, by Liz Pearson

Cocoa, by Liz Pearson

This painting of Cocoa, for the Port Jervis/Deerpark Humane Society shelter, comes all the way from Cape Town, South Africa, from Liz Pearson, one of ASAP's most regular contributors.

Liz paints a wide variety of subjects, including people, animals, birds, butterflies and flowers, seems to be tireless - and generous. Check out her website, Art with Liz (http://artwithliz.blogspot.com/). She regularly paints for DARG, the Domestic Animal Rescue Group, which is Cape Town's version of a shelter, donating the pieces as a part of the Art for Shelter Animals Project.

I love this painting of Cocoa. Liz has captured his expression so beautifully, with his big mouth and small, shining eyes. How can you not want to take this dog home?
